Micro-Enterprise Skills Development

Under this program, UGT supports students to develop their entrepreneurial skills, help them develop business ideas, link them with potential employers and business partners, help them access finance. Build the business capacity of the students, promote knowledge-sharing and research so they can increase their effectiveness and in doing so, strengthen the resilience in facing the realities in the world of work.

UGT is cognizant of the fact that, Development of transferable skills is a pertinent strategy to prepare the youth for the world of work. Thus we have committed our efforts towards developing skills such as; Motivation and enthusiasm, Initiative, Organization and planning, Communication, Teamwork, Leadership skills, Problem solving, Flexibility, and Self-awareness among others. This is normally done through workshop and UGT Business mentorship programs.

Business Incubation

Uganda is one of the most entrepreneurial countries in the world but the business started do not survive due to a number of factors but UGT believes in a strategy to have an ideal ecosystem that provides all the services that prepare the students for the world of work. Through this strategy, UGT intends to provide students with dedicated and affordable work spaces, common facilities, equipment as well as organizational, legal, financial, advisory and informative services.

Business Graduation & Transition

Under this strategy, UGT provides the opportunity to fresh graduates to acquire skills as well as building a future leadership pipeline. This program aims at nurturing talent among the university students with a purpose of harnessing their knowledge and grooming them to be future leaders.

Partnership, Collaboration & Networking

Under this arrangement, UGT identifies partners and execute the following activities;

  • Identifying placement organizations and negotiate conducive terms.
  • Identifying organizations and individuals that can support the orientation, training, and proving support supervision to learners.
  • Mobilizing financial, Human and physical resources from potential partners to support the skilling programme.
  • Setting up an innovation hub/centre for practical experience training.
